Garden-to-table-to-Toledo

What do gardening, wreath making, and authorship all have in common? James Farmer, that's what. This Georgia-born gentleman was raised with a garden-to-table mentality, which has served him well throughout his long and decorated career as a landscape designer, floral arranger, and spokesperson for southern heirloom food. He's also a profile author, having written a book a year for the past five years—in fact, 2011's A Time To Plant, his first, was a Wall Street Journal best-seller. Farmer is bringing his southern hospitality to the Toledo Museum of Art, where he will give a lecture and demonstration on the art of floral arrangement, as well as a book signing as part of the annual Art In Bloom event.

Friday, May 9, 10am. Advance restoration required, $30. Toledo Museum of Art, 2445 Monroe St. 419-255-8000. toledomuseum.org
