New York City’s Harlem has a decorated and complex history, including interactions between whites and African Americans which displayed an unbalanced bias. Discussing his latest book, Race and Real Estate: Conflict and Cooperation in Harlem, 1890-1920, author, Antioch College professor and Toledo native, Kevin McGruder, will explore the experience that many encountered during the struggle to establish an identity. Positive opportunities in Harlem, bring to light options for a better life through a sense of community.
