A military man

Writing the history of war is a difficult job, but someone's got to do it. Thanks, for undertaking that task, to Rick Atkinson, who will be in Toledo as part of the Lucas County Public Library's Authors! Authors! Series. Atkinson won two Pulitzer Prizes as a hard news, crime and war front reporter in the early 80's before turning his attention to America's military record, publishing seven books on our country's 20th Century wars. Atkinson will read from 2013's The Guns at Last Light: The War in Western Europe, 1944–1945, the last volume in his Liberation Trilogy, chronicling Allied triumph in WWII.

Thursday, May 1. 7pm. $10. Main Library, McMaster Center, 325 N. Michigan St.
