Adapting isn’t easy, but it’s required for survival. But what about when we choose to adapt instead of surviving? Director and screenwriter Charlie Kaufman took the risk with the 2002 metafilm, Adaptation, which he was certain would tank his career. The film centers on the struggle of adapting a screenplay that’s based on the experience of adapting a book, Adaptation. Probably more confusing to make than it is to explain, but that isn’t saying much. Spike Jonze directed, Nicolas Cage stars (among a star-studded cast). The film won multiple awards, and the Writers Guild of America named Kaufman’s screenplay the 77th best movie screenplay ever written. See the TMA screening at 7pm.
