In Charlie Chaplin’s 1918 silent comedy, Shoulder Arms, the hero falls haphazardly into moments of triumph with characteristic silliness, though it is set in World War I era France. Charlie somehow manages to capture 13 Germans, then the Kaiser, only to realize that his grand successes are not what they seem. The film continues the University of Toledo’s Fridays on Film series.
