Streets are alive

Toledo-area writers and poets have been commissioned to take advantage of the Poetry Sidewalks project— a high-visibility opportunity for local wordsmiths to get their poems stamped into concrete along sidewalks and high-traffic areas. On Wednesday, September 4, The Arts Commission is inviting members of the media and public for a featured reception at the plaza in front of the National Museum of Great Lakes to honor the featured writers and partners who made the project possible.  Phase 1 of the project has just been completed, with five poems featured around the recently redeveloped plaza along the riverfront at the site of the National Museum of Great Lakes. The project offers pedestrians a chance to interact with the city as well as raises awareness about local literary arts and exposes people to poetry.

10:30am. Free. National Museum of the Great Lakes, 1701 Front St. 419-254-2787.
