Wedding Guide

Danielle Desmond & Joshua Schorr

I was born and raised in Toledo and have always had a special place in my heart for the Glass City. My fiancé, Joshua, and I met in 2011 while he was in residency at St. Vincent Medical Center. We re-located to Las Vegas for our careers and decided to have a big Toledo wedding. We wanted to use local vendors to help create our dream wedding day. Many of our guests fell in love with Toledo, not realizing how much downtown had to offer.

Toledo Club, 235 14th St.
419-243-2200 |

If you are looking for an elegant, regal, classic wedding ceremony, dinner and reception venue, look no further than The Toledo Club in downtown Toledo. We attended past events there and fell in love with the historical architecture. We worked with Nancy La Fontaine, of the catering sales team, and we enjoyed a flawless dinner. As I was an out of town bride, Nancy was very flexible making time for me when I visited Toledo. The staff at The Toledo Club are truly down to earth and were a delight to work with. They made sure our guests had everything they needed.

Fun Stuff

Baseball Cake Pops & Macarons from KF Sweets
419-410-8350 |

I first heard about KF Sweets (Kelly Frankowiak) when I was searching macaroons. On her website I noticed she also made cake pops. I imagined baseball shaped cake pops for our rehearsal dinner. She was honest and said she had not made them before, but would practice until she got it right. They were incredible. I also love macaroons and Kelly made delicious delights to match our wedding colors.

Gourmet Popcorn

Popcorn from Rachel Michael’s Gourmet Popcorn
5305 Monroe St.
419-318-0880 |

Rachel Michael’s Gourmet Popcorn is a locally owned shop in West Toledo. Various flavors are offered including buckeye and even dill pickle. After taste-testing, we decided to have six different flavors for edible centerpieces at our rehearsal dinner. Even better, you can find owner Rachel Marciniak-Matthews there to share a sample and I can order online when I crave something for home.

Ice Creations
221 E. Washington St., Napoleon
419-599-0000 |

Since Joshua is from the Bay Area in California, I chose to surprise him with an ice sculpture of his favorite baseball team the Oakland Athletics. Ice Creations shaped exactly what I wanted and did not miss one detail. It was the talk of the evening. They can customize anything you want and bring your vision to life.

Rehearsal Dinner

The Roost at Toledo Mud Hens Stadium & Catering Group at Fifth Third Field
406 Washington St.
419-725-4367 | Being a couple that lived in Downtown Toledo, and Joshua being a baseball lover, we were thrilled to have our rehearsal dinner in the Roost at the Toledo Mud Hens Stadium. The Catering Group and staff at Fifth Third Field were pleasant to work with. Our guests raved about the food and the view of the park. My favorite thing about the Roost was how easily accessible it was for our guests.

Fordham Footage
5248 Rymoor Dr., Sylvania

At first, a videographer was not in my budget. Joshua and I were fortunate to have five grandparents at our wedding and we wanted to capture our time with them. I cannot wait to share the wedding video with my grandparents, and other family and friends who could not attend the event.

Hair & Makeup

Mary Wilson of Soto Salon & Spa
580 Craig Dr. #6, Perrysburg
419-872-5555 | It was so nice to have everyone get ready together in our hotel room. Mary Wilson, and the entire team from Soto Salon & Spa, made our bridal party look radiant. Most importantly, our hair and makeup lasted all day.

Bartz Viviano Flowers
4505 Secor Rd.
419-474-1600 |

Bartz Viviano's best kept secret is Ann Strickland, a true designer of flowers. I wanted to use material from my grandmother’s wedding dress to wrap the floral bouquets and Ann brought the idea to life! Bartz Viviano is a perfect one-stop shop for not only flowers, but wedding decor as well.

Bridal Veil

Belle Amour Bridal
927 N. Summit St.
419-244-1812 |

This gorgeous shop surpassed my expectations with their attention to detail. They also put me at ease when I needed someone to steam press my wedding dress, after travelling with it to Toledo.

Jennifer Mott Photography
126 W. Front St., Perrysburg
419-297-3589 |

Jennifer's sweet demeanor was the perfect touch on the wedding day. She takes time to remember family names and made sure everyone looked their best. Jennifer was able to capture special moments with a professional and pleasant personality.

Eston’s Bakery
5433 Monroe St.
419-885-9442 |

Eston’s Bakery made the perfect cake for my wedding day and a delicious cake for my wedding shower. Eston’s is a great example of a local business who truly cares about customers. Their cakes taste amazing.

Decorative Sound’s DJ Michael Baginski
419-867-6733 |

Michael created the perfect mix of songs for the cocktail hour, dinner and reception. He and my dad surprised me with a father/daughter dance recorded just for my wedding day. Michael also gave us a CD at the end of the night full of the memorable songs from our wedding.

Childers Limousine
5825 Angola Rd.
419-535-7019 |

Our wedding included many out of town guests and I did not want any drinking and driving issues. Childers was a limousine company which could accommodate the transportation of 50 guests at once.

Wedding Coordinator

Bee For The Day, Brooke Lauber-Cobb
419-270-4359 |

As an event planner in Las Vegas, I know the importance of having a third party present to help with everything throughout the day. When I saw the dedicated work ethic of Bee For The Day, it reminded me of how I handle event planning.

Neena Shaheen & Eric

Both Eric and I are from Northwest Ohio. We both were born, raised, educated, employed and now first time homeowners in West Toledo. We met at The University of Toledo during a basketball game in 2010. He proposed to me in Savage Arena as we sat in the empty student bleachers. We married a year later and exchanged vows in an outside ceremony at the Pinnacle in Maumee, with 400 friends and family sharing in our celebration. We both knew we wanted a large wedding that we could share with everyone.

The Pinnacle
1772 Indian Wood Circle, Maumee
419-891-7325 |

We got married at the Pinnacle because it was local for both families. More importantly, it was also one of the most beautiful venues in the Toledo area able to accommodate a large number of guests. Event Specialist, Ed Van Leuven, extended hospitality and professionalism from the first planning meeting through the end of our reception. I tell other brides… “Planning a wedding can be simple and stress free working with someone like Ed.”

Wedding and Event Decor:

Candlelight Occasions
173 Waterfox Dr., Oregon
419-340-6242 |

We worked with Jamie Waddell as she was highly recommended by the Pinnacle. All our decorations were simply beautiful. Jamie provided a stress-free setup, takedown and cleanup of wedding decor and did a fantastic job. We did absolutely nothing. When we left for our honeymoon, we had no worries. The dance floor was my favorite part of the evening.

Toledo DJs
DJ Richie
419-386-8190 | |

We had an amazing reception thanks to DJ Richie. He provided a competitive price and great sound. He will show your guests a great time because he gets the crowd going and is not too loud or obnoxious. He also has a great photo booth, Toledo Pix, run by his team. He takes control of everything so you don’t have to worry about a thing. Photos are available online rather quickly to be enjoyed by everyone. Since seeing him at my wedding, I know two other brides who have used his services.

Travel & Honeymoon Plans:

Travel Connections
3015 Navarre #209, Oregon
419-290-5481 |

Kristen Blake worked with us from the start to make travel planning as smooth as possible. We went to St. Lucia Sandals La Toc and it was truly the most beautiful island… as we missed two overnight flights and got stuck in Miami, she came to the rescue. After a few phone calls, she was able to get us new flights and an extra night on the island to extend our honeymoon. While other travelers were in tears not knowing how to get to St. Lucia, Eric and I survived the chaos thanks to Kristen. I highly recommend her for travel planning. We actually used her again to book our first anniversary trip to Jamaica.

Men’s Attire:

Szar’s Mens Shop
4743 N. Summit St.
419-726-2226 |

All the men in our wedding party had suits that fit and were tailored to each man’s measurements from Szar’s Mens Shop in Point Place. Not only is Szar’s a 2nd generation locally owned and operated business, but the owners are part of Eric’s family. It worked out well because the guys got a great suit to wear for other occasions.

Bridal Attire:

Atlas Bridal
4895 Monroe St. #101
419-474-9119 |

All the bridesmaid dresses were purchased at Atlas Bridal. The staff were extremely professional and created a fun time for the bridal party. Many of the ladies traveled from out of town for fittings etc., and Atlas staff went out of their way to accommodate various schedules.

Fulkerson Jewelers
4141 Monroe St.
419-472-4421 |

Eric surprised me with an engagement ring he picked out all by himself. We loved it so much we also decided to get our weddings bands custom made. Fulkerson’s is a locally owned and operated family business. They delivered beautiful rings not worn by any one else and with a large dose of personal service that made us feel very special about our big day.

Bokay Boutique
419-376-6609 |

We had many different flower needs and Cristina from Bokay Boutique was there to make sure our flowers arrived for the big day. We had bouquets for the ladies, boutonnières for the guys, and flowers for parents, grandparents, altar decor and flower girl petals to make the celebration beautiful. We got ready at a local hotel on our wedding day and Cristina went out of her way to deliver everything to us.

Eston’s Bakery
5433 Monroe St.
419-885-9442 |

Definitely Eston’s for the cake! We met with them one time and they were able to provide exactly what we wanted. Before we made any decisions, we tasted everything. The cake was beautiful and everyone enjoyed it. Eston’s delivered the cake to The Pinnacle which was one less detail to contend with.
