Health & Wellness 2016

It’s the end of January, which means many have likely broken your New Year’s resolution. But don’t worry—the doctor, therapist, chiropractor, and aestheticians are making a house call, ready to help. We spoke to of our area’s most trusted health and wellness experts to see what you can start doing right now to feel better tomorrow—and for the rest of your life.

Fact about our practice: We have over 68 years of combined Board Certified Plastic Surgeons.

Best way to feel better immediately: SMILE!

Three words of wisdom: Brush, Floss, Smile

Harbor Behavioral Health

Dr. Jennifer Harrington

Fact about our practice: Each person who enters treatment receives an individualized assessment and subsequent treatment plan that may include a combination of our available services. In addition, for families who need more assistance (and qualify) we offer case management services through our Health Home and CPST programs.

Biggest myth: That ADHD (Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is a condition that kids will just “grow out of”. ADHD is a biological, or “brain based” problem that often responds very well to medication intervention and additional behavioral modification (behavioral therapy) techniques.

Best first step for the new year: Meet with your primary physician to formulate a plan. Break things down into multiple smaller steps to reach their ultimate goal.

Best way to feel better immediately: Get up and move. When people are feeling down, if they get up and do even mild to moderate physical activity, such as a walk around the block or moving along to an exercise DVD, this can quickly improve mood, energy levels and motivation.

Three words of wisdom: (Be) Proactive (with) Your Health.  It is easier to prevent a problem than it is to treat one after it arises.

Evolve Medical Aesthetics

Frank Barone, MD

Biggest myth: Most people do not know and are surprised to learn that any physician can legally perform a cosmetic surgical procedure or non-surgical cosmetic service within their own office facility, even if they did not receive accredited training in that specialty. The majority of advertising offers for ‘plastic surgery’ and ‘cosmetic’ services do not come from real Plastic Surgeons.

Best first step for the new year: Make a commitment to be more active daily and reduce  calories.

Best way to feel better immediately: Make the switch to high-quality, medical skin care products.  Improving your skin health and reducing the signs of aging with a program makes everyone, young or old, man or woman, immediately feel better!

Best first step for the new year: Get adjusted. Adjustments can instantly relieve low back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain and headaches. Many people have reduced the amount of pain medication that they need or even avoided surgery because they saw a chiropractic physician.

Best way to feel better immediately: Stand up straight. Better posture will reduce the amount of pain in your neck and back and reduce your headaches. It can also improve your appearance and increase your self-confidence.
